Don’t Tolerate Anything Less!
Many businesses select integrity as a core value. It’s in the mission statement, and employees are proud to parrot the word. But when asked, many don’t know what it means.
Here’s my definition — it’s one of my five core values: do what you say you’ll do, when you said you’d do it, and do it to a higher standard than normal. That’s integrity.
If your employees don’t keep their promises, how can you create an organization of integrity? How can they perform if they don’t understand it’s part of the job? Define it. Then educate your people.
I remind myself daily: what I tolerate, I encourage. Define your core business values, lead with them, teach them to your people — and discourage what you don’t want repeated.
What you tolerate, you encourage. Don’t tolerate anything less.
The gap between where you are and where you want to be is real. So is the path to closing it. If you're ready to do something about it, we'd like to talk.
