You know, technology is great in sales. It really helps us. You know, I thank goodness that they’ve developed all this technology to help me sell people better, listen better, qualify better.

But here’s what really annoys me about technology. How many salespeople are hiding behind technology, especially email?

Majority of salespeople right now have been trained, hey, out emails, follow-up emails.

I’ve been trained and I continue to do it. When you want to make a connection to somebody, you pick up the phone and you call them. It’s one of the reasons why I trained salespeople get their cell phone numbers. Now you can call them, you can leave a personal message, you can text them.

Salespeople, please, please, please stop hiding behind email. It builds bad habits. You’re competing with nine million other emails and other internet distributed information.

People are jonesing for human connection right now.

Call them, talk to them, listen to them, meet with them, do not hide behind email. And if you feel that you are, stop, pick up the phone and call someone.
